Whenever we shop for a touch screen phone the first thing we look for is the on screen keyboard and any disadvantages it might have. Most people aren’t very comfortable with the on-screen QWERTY keyboard.

There are quite a few custom keyboards available in the android market or Play Store that can make typing very easy, and some of them also offer very good large keys that will prevent you from making mistakes, but some of those keyboards are either not that user friendly or they don’t help to increase typing speed and accuracy.

There is a new keyboard in the market called MessagEase Keyboard that aims to improve on all the disadvantages of other keyboards, namely small keys and typing mistakes. The keys of this keyboard are larger than the other normal QWERTY keyboards which make it very comfortable to type on.

The developer also claims that it’s the world’s first touch QWERTY keyboard that has managed to reduce mistakes and also increase typing speed and accuracy. The only downside of using this keyboard is that you have to get used to a new and unique style of typing.

This keyboard was primarily developed to increase typing speed along with accuracy. To do that the keyboard has large letters, meaning the keyboard has nine keys that represent several letters. The letters are compressed so the keys are larger, thus minimizing mistakes and also preventing typos which happen a lot using the regular QWERTY keyboards.

So what’s so special about this keyboard that looks so old fashioned? The magic lies in the nine keys which show the most commonly used letters A, N, I, H, O, R, T, E, and S. These letters also represent the minor, less commonly used letters.

Say you want to type out a sentence, simply slide your finger towards the direction of the minor letter which is in either direction of the center letter. For example if you want to type V then slide from letter A towards the O key which is in the center.

This keyboard also supports predictions so you don’t have to type out the entire word. The new version of the app provides the following features:

  • improved gesture recognition
  • expanded word list
  • enhanced text entry prediction
  • word prediction
  • voice input via Google voice integration
  • change the shape, size and color of the letters according to your preference

MessagEase keyboard is available for free in Play Store. Once you get used to it you might notice that it’s actually a much better option than other premium and paid keyboard apps.
